HINGHAM HIGH SCHOOL DRIVER'S EDUCATION!
ARE YOU 16 AND LOOKING TO APPLY FOR YOUR LEARNER'S PERMIT? DID YOU KNOW.....You DO NOT need to finish your Driver's Education class in order to obtain your permit!
To get your Learner's Permit, YOU:
- Must be 16 years old
- Must show proof of residency - HOW???
You need to obtain an official, sealed copy of your high school transcript. Stop by the School Counseling office to get this document.
For the "Real ID" you will be given an RMV Affidavit form that your parent will fill out at the registry. This is the 2nd document showing proof of residency. Your parent will need to show their MA state driver's license along with the form.
Did you know???
Beginning May 7, 2025, every air traveler 18 years of age and older will need a REAL ID compliant driver’s license or identification card, or another TSA-acceptable form of identification, for domestic air travel and to enter certain federal facilities.
DO I NEED TO TAKE DRIVER'S EDUCATION TO GET MY DRIVING LICENSE?
The State of MA requires all students under the age of 18 to participate in a Driver’s Education Program. Each program must consist of 15 “modules” or lessons that go over the laws in our state. Attendance is taken for each module.
Any module that is missed MUST be made up before the driving portion can begin (RMV Rule).
