The Communications Office at Hingham Public Schools exists to build trust and support strong connections among the district, families, staff, and the community through clear and consistent communication.

Communication Channels

  • Email
    Families and staff receive newsletters, event reminders, school announcements, and urgent alerts through email. 

  • Social Media
    District news, updates, and celebrations are posted on the official Hingham Public Schools social media channels,
    Facebook and Instagram, to provide easy access to information for the entire HPS community.

  • Website
    District and school websites serve as the central hub for important information, news, updates, and resources.

  • Text and Phone Calls
    Automated messages are used to notify families and staff of urgent updates, such as school closures or emergency situations.

  • Media Relations
    Press releases and media coverage help to share important district news with the broader community.

School Closures and Weather Alerts

The Superintendent decides on school delays or closures by 5:30 AM based on weather and road conditions. Notifications are sent out through:

  • Automated calls and texts (no earlier than 6 AM)

  • Email messages

  • Social media posts (Facebook and Instagram)

  • The HPS website

  • Local radio and TV stations
