Last week, our 5th graders spent the day at Hingham Middle School for Move Up Day!
They explored their future school, met some of their teachers, and heard from Principal Derek Smith about what a typical day is like at HMS. He shared what to expect in 6th grade and all the exciting after school clubs students can join.
They also took part in a scavenger hunt, discovering important spots like the guidance office and the nurse's office while starting to feel more at home in their new school.
We loved having you, Class of 2032. We cannot wait to see you at HMS this fall!

Our Integrated Pre-K students explored plant parts through hands-on learning! 🌱 They used scissors and tweezers to dissect flowers, identified seeds, and planted their own to discover how plants grow. 🌸 This lesson is part of our “What Grows in Your Garden” unit, helping them connect with the world around them and understand the importance of caring for nature.

Reminder! Kindergarten Orientation and Screening is going on this week at all four of HPS' elementary schools.
May 19 PRS Elementary, May 20 East Elementary, May 21 Foster Elementary, May 22 South Elementary

This month, our 1st grade classrooms at East Elementary turned into living ecosystems as our student animal experts presented their discoveries with families! Through research, creative writing, art, and presentations, they built science, literacy, and confidence skills.
Big shout out to Mrs. Morrison, Ms. Martin, Mrs. Lucas, and Mrs. McGourty for bringing these habitats to life for our East Explorers! 👏

Happy Teacher Appreciation Day! 🍎📚
To all of our incredible educators, thank you for the passion, care, and dedication you bring to your classrooms every day. Thank you for inspiring our students on their lifelong learning journey and for making Hingham Public Schools so special for our school community. ❤️

Last month, Mrs. O’Neill’s 2nd grade class at East read with their little buddies in Mrs. Day’s kindergarten class during "Dress up as your favorite book character" for Read Across America Week. Amazing job to our 2nd graders for serving as role models for our youngest readers! 🎉
