Saachi Menon and Kate Crespi Earn National Recognition from America250
Hingham, MA, June 5, 2025 – Hingham High School and America250, the official organization leading the United States’ 250th anniversary commemoration, proudly announce that two Hingham students have earned top honors in the 2025 “America’s Field Trip” contest.
Selected from thousands of submissions from across all 50 states, five U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia, Hingham High School juniors Saachi Menon and Kate Crespi are among just 150 students nationwide recognized for their powerful responses to the question “What does America mean to you?”
Saachi, who submitted an original essay, was named a first place awardee and will take part in a three-day immersive trip to Mount Rushmore this summer. One line from her essay that especially resonates with her reads: “I believe that America is a work in progress, a grand experiment in self-government. It’s a land forever striving to be a more perfect union, where the promise of liberty extends to all.”
Kate, whose original artwork earned her a second place award, will receive a $500 prize. A photo of her winning piece appears at the end of this article.
Christina O'Connor, US History Teacher at Hingham High School, shared “Saachi and Kate are both thoughtful students of history and I'm so glad their work was recognized as we mark America's semiquincentennial.”
We are incredibly proud of Saachi and Kate for representing Hingham at the national level and for using their voices to help tell the story of America.
