Food Security Resources - Town of Hingham

Hingham Public Schools. Free, nutritious breakfast and lunch will continue to be available to all students each school day, at all schools. Menus are viewable here.

Hingham Interfaith Food Pantry. Open 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on alternating Tuesdays, in the lower level of the Second Parish Church at 685 Main Street. All Hingham residents in need of food are welcome. For more information, visit their Facebook page, or call (781) 740-8180.

 

New North Church - Soup Sistahs. Served the 3rd Thursday each month, at 12:00 PM. For more information, contact the New North Church by email, at pastor@newnorthchurch-hingham.org.

 

Hingham Link. Volunteer service connecting people who need help with volunteers, including the Hingham Food Project. Visit their website, or call 781-908-0590.

 

Interfaith Social Services. Food pantry offering emergency food to families and individuals at 105 Adams Street, in Quincy. Pantry hours are 10:00 - 11:45 AM, Monday through Friday. Wednesday evening visits are by appointment only, register online. Visit the Food Pantry web page for more information.

South Shore Community Action Council - Mobile Food Pantry. SSCAC operates its mobile pantry from 12:30 - 2:30 PM, on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. This service is offered in partnership with and is located at the Plymouth Family Resource Center, at 430 Court Street, Plymouth.

Greater Boston Food Bank. Identify agencies providing food assistance in Hingham and nearby communities through the Agency Partner Locator.

Project Bread – FoodSource Hotline. For anyone in Massachusetts who needs food assistance, the Hotline is your one-stop-shop to learn about resources available to help. The Hotline is toll-free and confidential, at 1-800-645-8333. Hotline hours are Monday – Friday, from 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM. For more information, visit the FoodSource Hotline web page.

SNAP Recipients 

Food Bags. Limited numbers available to SNAP card holders at 7:00 – 8:30 AM each Wednesday and Saturday at Crocetti’s, 378 Pleasant Street, East Bridgewater. Call (508) 587-0035.

Seniors

Congregate Lunch Program. Served Mondays and Wednesdays at 12:30 PM, at the Hingham Center for Active Living, at 224 Central Street. Reservations are required, please call (781) 741-1458. Suggested donation is $2.00. This program is supported by South Shore Elder Services.

Shelf Stable Pantry Bags. Available twice monthly for pick up. Please call the Hingham Center for Active Living, at (781) 741-1458, in advance, to be put on our list.

Meals on Wheels - delivered to the homes of seniors in need. To inquire about services or for more information visit the South Shore Elder Services web site, or call their Information and Referral Department at 781-848-3910.

Veterans

Joint Base Cape Cod (Bourne) and Sandwich Empowerment Centers. Food essentials and clothing are available weekly for military, veterans, and their families. JBCC is open on Mondays and Fridays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and Wednesday 1:00 – 4:00 PM. Sandwich is open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM; and Thursdays and Fridays from 12:30 – 4:00 PM. If you have base access, please choose JBCC. If not, make your appointment with Sandwich. Please sign up online. Proof of military or veterans status is required.

Crocetti’s Turkey Drop. Crocetti’s is giving away 1000 turkeys to veterans and/or their families on November 23 from 11:00am – 2:00pm at Crocetti’s 387 Pleasant Street, East Bridgewater. Veteran or military ID required. Veterans without an ID should contact Shannon Burke, Hingham’s Veterans Services Officer, at (781)741-1440.

 

Gift Cards. If you are having trouble please contact Hingham Veterans’ Services for assistance. We have a small number of gift cards available to assist with purchasing groceries. Veterans should contact Shannon Burke, Hingham’s Veterans Services Officer, at (781)741-1440.
